Beatriz's Closet
I aim to have the best-dressed medieval baby possible. I think we're doing pretty good so far. First garb. Simple white tunic. The sling is an everyday thing for us, but this one blended in well enough.
![]() This tunic did 2 Pennsics for us. I made it huge and she didn't grow much. The coif started out a bit small and so didn't get worn much after.
![]() I also threw together some baby peplos and a heavy linen tunic that turned out a bit too short and narrow. The latter was still worn this year, but as a shirt. Lookit the size difference in the Bea! And bonus pic of cute lil baby who visited our camp.
![]() ![]() We were in the Scranton St. Patrick's Day parade in March, and she had a new wool surcote and linen coif.
![]() Lots of new garb for this Pennsic! The big project was a saffron linen/cotton tunic, all handsewn with blue linen thread.
![]() There was also an apron dress embroidered with a boar that someone gave us. Worn over the white tunic from last Pennsic. A bit shorter, but still fits around her!
![]() And a Byzantine/Romanish tunica, just squares of linen sewn together with arm and neckholes. It was recycled from a skirt of a ladies' sundress from the Salvy. Worn with a purple linen/rayon peplos. The fabric was on clearance and we like purple. I put buttons on the front and thread loops on the back to close it, due to toddler head/body proportion issues. I made it big thinking she'd get another year out of it, but she really put a beating on all her garb this year. Toddlers get filthy, go figure.
![]() I also made a Bohemian bathhouse dress for her, but we never did go swimming. It just barely fit her, so I'm sure it won't be getting any more wear.
